Staged in challenging waters, the 2005 Tall Ships’ Race will visit the four unique and distinctive ports of Waterford, Cherbourg-Octeville, NewcastleGateshead and Fredrikstad – each with their own rich and vibrant culture to discover.

All four ports have a long tradition of seafaring hospitaity and a firm commitment to sail training and, together, are looking forward with great pleasure to welcoming all participating ships, rekindling old friendships and making new ones. The warm atmosphere of kinship and generosity that links all our ports offers the perfect environment in which crews and visitors alike can come together and experience the spirit and adventure of sailing.

The welfare of the ships, crews and young trainees is of the utmost importance, and the ports are already working hard not merely to satisfy but to exceed every expectation of each vessel’s stay.
