A Duck for Mr. Darwin - Evolutionary Thinking and the Theory of Natural Selection
When: 10/04/2009 - 20/09/2009
Coinciding with Darwin 200, A Duck for Mr. Darwin is a group exhibition of contemporary artists exploring the scientific discourse surrounding evolutionary thinking and the Theory of Natural Selection. Focusing on the enduring legacy of Charles Darwin’s ideas, the exhibition features several artists own journeys to and research of the Galapagos Islands, as well as individual artworks drawing comparisons between animal and humans and our place as a species in the natural world.
The gallery will host installations by leading contemporary artists from the US, Ireland and the UK. Artists such as Mark Dion, Marcus Coates, Tania Kovats and Charles Avery amongst others will interpret Darwin’s remarkable legacy through sculpture, drawing, photography and film.
