SummerTyne
When: 17/07/2009 - 26/07/2009
The Sage Gateshead’s fourth SummerTyne festival kicks off with the Sing for Water weekend as choirs join together to raise awareness of global water issues and raise money for WaterAid, with water and river-themed performances.
The weekend also features artists from some of the countries supported by WaterAid including The Zawose Family from Tanzania and the Kawa Circus troupe from Rajasthan.
A wide variety of events and activities run throughout the week, including late-night Latin, steel pan workshops, Canadian folk, and lots more.
The much-loved Americana weekend (Friday 24 – Sunday 26 July) is the climax of the festival which brings great American artists to Tyneside such as Lucinda Williams, Diana Jones, Taj Mahal Trio, Baby Gramps, The Flatlanders and Rodney Crowell.
