Pet Shop Boys & Northern Sinfonia perform a soundtrack to Battleship Potemkin
When: 01/05/2006
Pet Shop Boys and Northern Sinfonia, conducted by Jonathan Stockhammer, will perform a new soundtrack to the classic 1925 film Battleship Potemkin in the unique industrial setting of the shipyards.
A combination of electronic and orchestral music, the score was written by Pet Shop Boys with orchestrations by the young, German composer Torsten Rasch and premiered to great acclaim in London's Trafalgar Square in 2004. This is its first British performance outside London.
Battleship Potemkin tells the story of a sailor's revolt in 1904, and director Eisenstein said that he wanted a new soundtrack to the film every ten years to keep it fresh.
