The Big M
When: 24/09/2005 - 25/09/2005
The Big M is a video and film presentation suite unlike any other. Providing an alternative to the conventional gallery setting, the highly stylised inflatable structure will play a key role in the first International Film Festival in Berwick (17th - 25th September) before moving to a venue outside of Newcastle’s Laing Gallery (24th/25th September).
In association with ISIS Arts, the Big M will showcase the work of 20 emerging and established artists alongside internationally renowned film and video makers. The theme of the Big M programme of moving image art is Crossing Borders, a wide ranging and ever present global and local scale issue, affecting film makers from both a political and trans-national perspective. More loosely interpreted, work is expected to include issues of gender, life and death and aesthetic language, as each of the 20 artists applies their own unique rendering of the theme.
This event is part of NewcastleGateshead’s Festival of Visual Arts (September 2005 - March 2006), celebrating the North East’s creativity, cultural vibrancy and artistic talent. To search for more events, click here.
